AbstractThe arteriography exams are useful for checking abnormalities in the blood vessels and diseases such as stroke, stenosis, bleeding and especially in the diagnosis of Encephalic Death in comatose individuals. Because it is a complementary test in the diagnosis of brain death, the use of strategies that may help their accuracy is of paramount importance and, therefore, were compared three pre-processing techniques. The first technique uses only the bilateral filter to minimize the noise present in the images, the second one uses the transformed intensity by Sigmoid to enhance the arteries before the count of the pixels, and finally, the third technique uses the bilateral filter along with the transformed intensity by Sigmoid. After processing, a comparison with the results of the three techniques was performed in order to obtain the best one to be used in further processing. For 14 tests quantified, including Encephalic Death 7 and 7 Other Cases, the technique achieved a most satisfactory number of pixels quantified was the second technique, which uses a Sigmoid transformed intensity.
